Detailed description of Gypsum Creek Golf Course

Gypsum Creek Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Gypsum, Colorado.

Gypsum Creek Golf Course opened as the Semi-Private Cotton Ranch Golf Club in 1997. The course was designed by Pete Dye. In 2010, the Town of Gypsum purchased of the course and renamed it. Operating now as a fully public facility, Gypsum Creek is located 35 miles west of Vail and offers the longest golf season in the Eagle Valley.

Nestled in the Gypsum Valley, Gypsum Creek Golf Course is a Championship course for players of all caliber. Spread out over a steep, sage-covered mesa, this challenging course charms golfers with splendid natural scenery and lulls them into states of false confidence with its rolling fairways, which are flanked by native pinon and juniper trees. Gypsum Creek winds throughout the golf course and the beauty is enhanced with spectacular views of the Red Table Mountains.

Gypsum Creek Golf Course plays to a par-72. From the back tees, the course measures 6,980 yards. The front tees are set at 5,197 yards.

The signature sixth hole is a daunting 568 yard par-5 that is almost never reached in two shots thanks to the prevailing winds. From this hole forward, steep drop offs and tough angles are the status quo for the course.

- Kudos to the town management. A top notch course at a very fair price. Conditions of greens and fairways very good. You won’t find a better deal within 100 miles. Lots of little creeks run through most holes so be aware. Back nine holes have some surprises. Challenging last three holes. Play here before you get the pricy clubs near Vail. My rating is an A- based on value. Well done.

Price is low because it was a bankrupt course that the city purchased, and they are trying to get people to come to play. Not far from I70 and easy to get to. GPS would be nice, but the course is well marked and not really needed
